There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:13)
When we think of "laying down your life" for someone else it's normally thought of as dying. That's exactly what Jesus did. He loved us so much that He suffered a terrible crucifixion so that our sins would be paid for and we could live.
But now, He's asking us to lay down our lives, and show our love differently than He did. He's asking us not to die for others, but to live for them.
Some of the ways we could do that is by spending time in prayer for someone. It could also mean showing genuine love and understanding. Many times it means putting others ahead of ourselves in order to meet their needs.
Romans 15:1 says: We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves.
When you lay down your life, you live to please God instead of yourself. You let your life be guided by His love. Wherever His love leads you, follow. Whatever His love asks you to do, willingly do it. When love calls you to intercede for someone in need, passionately pray.
"Father God You have loved me with the greatest love there is. I count it a privilege now to share that love with others. I thank You for it in Jesus' Name. Amen."
