We are constantly changing whether we want to or not.
We’re forever evolving and dissolving. We’re experiencing change on a constant basis.
However, I believe the average person is afraid of change. If change were easy more people would embrace change.
If were going to embrace all that God has for us, we must learn how to change. We need to learn through the word of God how to adapt to change.
Proverbs 4:20-23 (NKJV) says, 20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. 23 Keep your heart with all diligence.
There are four principles you must be aware of if you want to embrace lasting change:
1. Change starts in your heart. God changed your life by first changing your heart. When your spirit man changed the rest of your life began to change. If you are going to see the issues in your life change, it starts in the heart. Change first starts in the heart and then manifests outward into your life.
2. Change comes from beholding the glory of God. We must focus on Jesus Christ. Don’t focus on your failures and shortcomings but put your attention on Christ. If you focus on the promises of God’s word, you will be filled with the light and life of God. If you stay focused on God, you’ll see Him working in your life.
3. Change is progressive. Change doesn’t always happen instantly. Change can occur quickly in some areas of your life, but more often than not it will be progressive. But be patient. Don’t be so quick to get discouraged. Progressive change is the norm, instant change is the exception.
4. Change comes by God’s spirit, not ours. Change comes from trusting God, who changes us for His kingdom. We must yield to the work the Holy Spirit is doing in our lives.
